In this article, I will explain how to connect and use a PS3’s DualShock 3 controller with a PC to play FIFA 22 or any other FIFA without facing any controller issues, with or without a Bluetooth dongle. I cover computers with Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, or Windows 7.

How to connect the PS3 controller to a PC.

In addition to having your DualShock 3 controller and PC, you will need; a mini USB cable and a software known as ScpToolkit and a Bluetooth dongle (if you are going to use your controller via Bluetooth and your computer doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth support).

After you’ve assembled everything you need, here are the steps for you to follow:

1. Make sure your DualShock 3 controller is not paired with a PS3 otherwise it can cause syncing conflicts.

2. Plug the DualShock 3 into your PC via a mini-USB cable.

 

NOTE: If your computer doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth support, plug in your wireless Bluetooth dongle.

3. Download and run ScpToolkit Setup.exe (you will have to Extract the setup first.)

4. Make sure to download all the necessary files presented to you in the Prerequisites Wizard and select Finish once all the Prerequisites have been downloaded.

5. On the next screen, make sure that all the boxes are checked so that you avoid any setting up errors and then click on Install.


6. After the ScpToolkit finishes installing and setting up, select the big green button above Run Driver Installer on the window that pops up.



7. If you are using Windows 7, download and install the Xbox 360 controller drivers by clinking on the link provided.

8. On the next screen, your gamepad should be recognized under Uninitialized DualShock Controllers. On the left, click on Initialize all connected devices as DualShock 3/4 controllers, click on Install on the prompt that comes up and after installing successfully, your controller should show up under initialized DualShock Controllers.


9. On the next screen, your Bluetooth driver (for computers with Bluetooth compatibility) or Bluetooth dongle should be recognized under Uninitialized Bluetooth hosts. On the left, click on Initialize all connected devices as Bluetooth hosts and once installing is successful, your driver/dongle should now be recognized under initialized Bluetooth hosts.

NOTE: This step is only for those who wish to use their DualShock 3 controllers via Bluetooth. You can skip this step by clicking on Next right away if you will be using your controller only via the Mini USB cable.

10. On the next page, install virtual Xbox 360 Controller driver and then install windows service on the next page and on the final page click on finish to complete the installation process. Your controller should automatically connect with your computer after a second or two. Plug out the DualShock 3 controller from the computer and wait for a second for it to sync with your computer if you wish to use it via Bluetooth.

 

 

How to Use Your PS3 Controller to Play FIFA 22 on your computer.

Once installed properly, the DualShock 3 should automatically work with your FIFA 22 without any other steps and with any other games that support gamepads.

You may be able to adjust the control settings for individual games, but your computer will recognize the PS3 controller as an Xbox controller, so keep that in mind when adjusting the button mapping.

When you’re done playing, turn off the DualShock by unplugging it from the computer and holding down the PS button on the center of the controller, and if you wish to come back for another session, just plug in your controller to your computer or press the PS button and it will automatically sync with your computer.

 

NOTE: ScpToolkit must be running for the DualShock 3 controller to work on your PC so be sure to not disable it among the start-up apps as it will be enabled automatically.
